Media Alert: Atlantic Yards Protests, Press Conferences and Public Hearing
MEDIA ALERT

Atlantic Yards:
Press Conferences, Protests & Public Hearings
BROOKLYN, NY — Tomorrow, Wednesday July 29th, the Empire State
Development Corporation (ESDC, the state agency "overseeing" developer Forest
City Ratner’s beleaguered Atlantic Yards development proposal in Prospect Heights,
Brooklyn) is holding a 2pm and 6pm public
hearing on the Modified
General Project Plan, where the public is allowed to give 3 minutes of oral
testimony.
While the ESDC holds these hearings on the Ratner project, the public
has yet to see an Atlantic Yards site plan, project rendering or model, cost-benefit
analysis, security study or realistic construction timeline.
"Atlantic Yards is a rip-off for New Yorkers. And now we are being asked to comment
on a phantom project, to 'review' a project without being able to view the project
plans. This is beyond ludicrous. Its farcical," said Develop Don’t Destroy Brooklyn
spokesman Daniel Goldstein. "It is further evidence that Atlantic Yards is a sham
project undergoing a sham process.”
